GEDE RUINS EXCURSION

Step back in time with a fascinating half-day excursion to the ancient Gede Ruins, one of Kenya’s most mystical and historically rich archaeological sites. Hidden within a lush coastal forest near Watamu, Gede was once a thriving Swahili town that flourished between the 12th and 15th centuries before being mysteriously abandoned.

Accompanied by a local English-speaking guide, you’ll wander through the remains of stone houses, palaces, and mosques, imagining life as it once was in this prosperous coastal settlement. Along the way, you’ll learn about Swahili architecture, trade, and culture, and encounter curious wildlife like monkeys and colorful birds that inhabit the ruins today
